Cryptocurrencies are a relatively new form of investment and are not typically included in traditional portfolios. As such, they are considered “disruptive” by many investors, and they lack the governmental oversight that traditional assets enjoy. Although there are some advantages of cryptocurrency, the risks are high, and investing in them should only be considered a last resort. The CFPB warns that these investments are “highly speculative,” and they can have a high degree of volatility.
The value of a cryptocurrency largely depends on its supply and demand. The supply of bitcoin is the number of units that can be purchased at a given time, while the demand for it is the desire of the public to own a particular amount. This means that the price of a crypto will always be a function of its supply and demand. However, this value can also be based on the pride that some people derive from being part of a new financial system. Some people prefer to use bitcoin for shopping because of the low fees.
While Bitcoin and Ethereum share similar capabilities, Ethereum’s uses are much more widespread. For example, it is often used by developers to run applications on the Ethereum platform. It is also used by investors to buy and sell other digital currencies. Despite the popularity of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, Ethereum remains the second-largest digital currency after Bitcoin, whose market cap stands at over $100 billion as of March 8, 2022. This is still only half of the market cap of Bitcoin, but its growth has made it an increasingly attractive investment opportunity.
While Ethereum and bitcoin are popular, it is not for everyone. While Ethereum and bitcoin are the two most widely used cryptocurrencies, XRP has been on a downward trend for the past several months as its ethereum rivals have monopolized the spotlight. This week, the Biden administration published an executive order that focuses on regulating crypto technology. It requires different departments to investigate the risks associated with this type of technology. The publication of the executive order quickly wiped out gains in cryptocurrency prices.

Ripple is a case of securities fraud. The SEC alleged that the company sold XRP without registering its offerings. Its co-founder, Chris Larsen, said the court will likely rule against the cryptocurrency company. ADA and XRP are now trading in mixed markets and are not tied to any specific country. It is unclear if the cryptocurrency will trade in the coming days. This is a complicated case, but there are no guarantees.
